Level 5 Finishing

A level 5 finish refers to drywall that has been taped, first and second coated, and sanded lightly to get rid of tool marks before applying a thin skim coat to the entire surface. The skim coat is then sanded lightly and checked with a halogen light to look for any imperfections. Finally, the surface is coated with a high-quality drywall primer before painting.

Why Level 5 Finishing?

  • Suitable smooth finish on walls
  • Ceilings that are finished smooth require a level 5 finish
  • If using high gloss paint, level 5 is highly recommended
